I recently whipped up a website for my long time friend, roommate, and former bandmate Bill Scott. Bill is a Los Angeles based performing and session guitarist, as well as recording producer and engineer.

The tale of the Baby Encouragement Hippo

I was at Venice Beach the other day to watch the sunset when I ran into this.

As much as I wished it had been a spontaneous event, I had actually just stumbled on a taping for the new season of Flight of the Conchords.

Me and Jemaine:
“Hey, can I get a photo of you guys?”
“Sure.”
(Raises camera)
“Well…don’t you want to be in it?”
“That’s ok, I’ll just get you guys.”
“Nah, you have to be in it. We can’t just be standing here. That’d be weird.”
“Ok.”
I’m gonna hold this pillow thing behind your head.”
“Ok.”

The weather was painfully cold and windy and everyone on the shoot looked exhausted and miserable by the end, but the guys still took time to meet and take photos with the handful of people that were around.

I returned from getting a cup of coffee to find the shops closed up, the set broken down, and the boardwalk mostly empty except for two guys alone in the distance, joking around and rollerskating into the sunset.
